Rad Reading-March

This month I decided to read Rumble Fish by S.E. Hinton. I haven’t finished the book yet, but I’m on page 59. This book is about a boy named Rusty-James that looks up to his older brother, who is called by people in their neighborhood, The Motorcycle Boy. But the problem is: is that Rusty is more of a person who gets into fights all the time, and whenever he does his brother is always there to help him out. But as Rusty-James life begins to progressively get worse, his brother isn’t there to help him through that. I’m beginning to like this book a lot because, it shows the perspective of a younger sibling. The book also gives a good message of that you shouldn’t always depend on someone else to help you whenever you need to, because there may be instances where you can’t ask for help. My Favorite character so far is The Motorcycle Boy because he does help his younger brother but also knows that he doesn’t have to all the time. This quote can prove my statement, “When did you get here?” Smokey asked him. Then to me he said “ You’re hurt, man.” My favorite Quote from the book is, “he was the coolest person in the whole world. Even if he hadn’t been my brother he would have been the coolest person in the whole world. And I was going to be just like him.” I liked this quote because it show just how much Rusty-James looked up to his brother and praised him. Also how he wants to just be like him when he’s older reminds me of how some of my siblings are. Happy reading!

What My Job Would Be

If I could have any job in the world, it would be an actress. Theater and acting has always been an interest of mine since I was little. I would really love to be in the spotlight of a movie and even just short film. I like to act out stories that may or may not be true for entertainment purposes, also for making a personal goal of mine. Acting along with many other stars of Hollywood would be exiting for me as well. And possibly achieving an academy award for my performances would be a dream.

Rad Reading-February

This month I began reading Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. I haven’t finished reading this book yet but Im on page:50. This book is about a teenage girls that is already struggling at school with two friends that have separated, but both are still friends with her. Although she does have friends on her swim team she hangs out with. Until a meteor strikes the moon and begin coming closer to earth. Earthquakes, floods that kill and volcanic eruptions that are high then clouds begin to happen soon after. Now Miranda is trying to survive with her loving mom, little broth named johnny, and older brother named Matt in a little house with food and clothes to last them a whole two years. I really like this book because it shows a near “end of the world” experience if it were to happen. It also shows what us humans have to be thankful for to have and what we do need to live. My favorite charecter in this book is Miranda, she’s very mindful and elliteral in this story, her traits really stuck out to me in this quote. “Vitamins,” Mom said. “Get lots and lots of vitamins. And Laxitives. Calcium. Vitamin D. This is so hard , trying to remember everything we might need.” “Or might not,” I said “Mom, I love you but I think this is crazy.” After her mom going a little crazy over buying everything. Miranda try’s to calm her mother down in the way she does. My favorite quote from the book is, “she doesn’t understand,” Megan said. “She’s a good woman, really she is, but she lacks my faith. I pray for her soul, just the way I do for yours.” “Megan,” I said, like I was trying to grab the friend I’d loved for years and bring her back to reality. “There are no more hot lunches. Half the time theres no electricity. I live five miles from school and gas cost nine dollars a gallon and we cant use the pool anymore.” I like this quote because It really relates to me. I, myself know a few people that don’t live like life happens once, and don’t take risks or do fun things time to time, sometimes I wish I could tell them off like Miranda did here.

The Twenty-Four Hours of Invisibility

If I was invisible four twenty-four hours, my day would be endless amounts of fun. First, without telling my parents, I would probably get out of the house because I wouldn’t spend the whole day inside my house. I would next get breakfast for free at any good restaurant. After eating I would get a ride on a bus to Anaheim to spend a free day at the Disneyland parks. Because of my invisibility I would most likely get free food, and any merchandise my own money cant buy. After those hours I would walk right on into the California hotel in Anaheim. I would try to ask someone to book me a room with my own money, but if that doesn’t work I would just get a room by myself. Of course I would spend my last hours of the day in the room, no!, I would go to any of the restaurants inside the hotel to get whatever I want. After that I would call my mom or dad on one of the telephones to tell them I was alright. I would also say that I wouldn’t be back home until tomorrow. In the last few hours I would just go back to my hotel room and sleep it off until the next day.

My Abandoned Island

Life on an abandoned island is perfectly fine. I washed up only a couple days ago but it has felt like a couple years. I got to this island after surviving a boat crash and washed up to shore a day later. The first thing I did when I got here was to find food, luckily I found some fruits that I can’t identify that fell from the palm trees. My clothes were still fine from the crash but I do use some large leaves to trap my body heat and keep me warm. Starting a fire was the hardest part of all in the beginning. I first thought rubbing two sticks together was the way to do it, but Instead I started scratching two rocks together and that worked in an instant! My life right now on this abandoned island is perfectly fine.

Rad Reading-January

The book I read this month was The Bond of Friendship by Hans Christian Andersen. The story starts with the back story of two men that were great friends. They soon grow older and both start families in different countries. When one of the men’s boys, (which the name is never mentioned), is about 14, the boys father brings a very important little girl home. Before the boy knew who she was, he and the little girl that his father brought, form an amazing friendship. Later it turns out that the boy’s father’s friend had died and gave his daughter to his family. That daughter was the little girl. This would explain the bonding relationship the boy and girl have. A couple months later robbers try to steel the family, and the loss of the father saddens the characters. The next day the whole family wakes up in prison, it is never said why, but soon they get let out. The rest of the story is the family going on an adventure down the mountain back home encountering other places and characters, and the boy and girl’s friendship growing. I really liked this book because it gave elements of adventure, bonding relationships, and real life occurrences. My favorite charecter is The Boy because he likes to show he’s interested in many things like stories, such as in this quote. “It all sounded wonderfull like a priestly legend, and I looked at him with a kind of awe. ‘How much do you know!’ I said, ‘How well can you tell?”. My favorite quote from the book is, “What reward is there for these hardships? The greatest! The richest! Nature reveals herself here in all her glory; every spot is history; eye and mind alike are delighted. The poet can sing of it, the painter portray it in splendid pictures; but neither can reproduce the air of reality that sinks deep into the soul of the spectator, and remains there.” The quote is meaningful to me because it shows that pictures or writing can’t just tell the amazing site in life than being in life. Happy reading!

Why She’s My Friend

The cafe wasn’t busy as it usually was, but the streets were crowed outside. I had been friends with Joleen since Last year and I really felt she was the best friend I had. Being the only two girls that only spoke our minds out to each other gave us a bonding relationship. We were both sitting on the heigh chairs and tables in the lounge. We both brought our ipads to pass the time, we also brought books. Joleen closed her iPad and picked up her book, wich was strange because I remembered her saying she hated that book. As I was watching her read In confusion, I realized her eyes weren’t moving. That showed me she wasn’t reading, she was just in a deep thought. As I started listening if our order was ready, I started to hear a man a seat in front of us talking in a rather strong language that I should not say. I listened to the whole conversation with in three Minutes. When the man stopped talking Joleen closed her book, then it hit me. Joleen was just eves-dropping. I guess that was another reason she was my friend, we would listen to others conventions just to have something exiting to hear about, because no one at our school was as exiting, but we would never spread the word. “Amy.” she whispered to me. “I can’t believe he Said that about his dad!” She laughed. I laughed too, I guess she knew I was listening in too. But other than all those reasons of us being good friends, I forgot the most important one, us caring for each other. I think what most people forget about being friends with someone is that you would do anything for them to not get hurt or in trouble. Starting rumors or saying bad things about them isn’t really being a friend to someone. At that moment I was grateful to have her as a friend.

Quick Quote

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.” -Dumbledore

This quote from the character Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series is one quote that I really relate to. I am that person that doesn’t think of the good things during a rough time, and recently I’ve been trying to look on the bright side no matter what. I also have been focusing on solving my own problems in stressful times like turning on the light.

My Hero, Diana

Somebody I look up to as a hero is, Princess Diana. Princess Diana was the princess of whales from 1981-1996. She has shown many people that she was proud to be princess of whales in England. She showed love to everyone she met and rebellion to the royal family. For example, when one of her son’s school was having a field day, the mothers were allowed to race, but mothers with dresses and skirts could not. Princess Diana and the other mothers replied with “ So what?” Soon all the mothers of the children lined up and raced each other. Another example is when Diana was visiting orphan children with AIDS . She was told that the children didn’t have families because people were afraid of the decease. After hearing this, she immediately hugged a little boy with AIDS. There are many other reasons why Princess Diana was such a very loving and caring person. Which has influenced me to figure out the person that I want to be. As well as being a little rebellious like her.

My Word for the Year

This year I going to be focusing on the word Wise. I really want to be smart on my choices for the year to make it fun and calm at the same time. I also want to be wise on the people I meet in 2024. I want to know whether or not to allow a person in my life, and I want to think about what can this person change for me. Whether it’s good or bad. Another thing that I want to be smart on is my school life. I want immediately know if my choices in school for my grades, and work are going to benefit good things for me this year. Im also going to be wise on what I really want to do this year. I know I want to travel a lot and go to new places. I know I want to do these things because Im wise enough that I want these good things for myself. And to make this year exiting for me.
